US Housing Construction Falls 12.8%

New home construction fell by 12.8 percent for the month of April according to information released today by the US Commerce Department. This represents a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 458,000 new units – the lowest rate of construction in over fifty years – and far from expected results of a slight increase due to recent signs that the recession is waning.
